So sorry that i've been so scarce. I've been so immersed in my new project Banding People Together. It's really been cool and I'm learning a lot. Bringing music into corporate America is very different but still very cool. I've been doing a lot more listening as of late. Right now I can't seem to get enough of the Counting Crows album Hard Candy.
I'm very excited to be going to Shanghai, China next month to do some collaboration work and also perform while there. I'm really looking forward to playing with Chinese musicians and collaborating with some artists while I'm there. I will of course take plenty of pictures and video. Until next time.

01/02/2011 As I start another new year I am both excited and a little scared. I'm really excited about Banding People Together, my new corporate teambuilding project. It is poised to do really well in 2011. What is a bit scary to me is just how music is going to fit into my life. I didn't do nearly as many shows in 2010 and if I'm being brutally honest, I'm not sure how many I will do this year. I just don't have the desire to tour in the same way. I still love singing and performing but all the other stuff that goes into getting to that point seems tiring these days.
Going into the studio towards the end of the year really made me realize just how much I love making music. However, I have been struggling with what to do with it. A big part of me wants to release the new material as Alan Schaefer instead of Five Star Iris. Not sure how much that matters? I just know that my desire to sing is far greater than my desire to market and hustle to spread the music.
I do know that I can ponder all day long, but at the end of the day it will all be different than anything I expect. I guess that's what makes life so interesting. I hope that 2011 is a fantastic year for you and your family.
